Author Andrea Corrie has published her second grief book Living in the Mourning Light where she describes her gradual emergence from grief following the loss of her son James to accidental drowning in the River Thames in 2005. Andrea has shared with Slide Away how we played a small part in encouraging her to complete this sequel to her first book Into the Mourning Light.
'When I met Denise through a mutual friend early in 2019 I told her I was struggling with writer's block. This was due to many factors, most notably the upheaval of our move from Surrey to Devon in 2017. I had started writing Living in the Mourning Light in 2016, but with the distractions of settling into this lovely part of the UK, with so much to explore, the draft was languishing in its incomplete chapters, figuratively gathering dust on the computer. Denise's encouragement and her kind words about my first book, Into the Mourning Light, encouraged me to apply myself with more dedication to complete the writing, editing and publishing process. Sometimes a nudge from someone else definitely helps!'
Aspects of hope, love, light, faith, resiliance and joy are explored in the book as Andrea relates them to the grieving process. You can hear Andrea on Brooklands Radio's Just Women programme today at 1 pm.
