This page will introduce you to Slide Away - please follow the links to find out more.
What do we do?
We offer two day Slide Away workshops for children bereaved of a parent or sibling.
We offer a Memory Day for children bereaved of another relative or friend.
We offer a half day session to parents/carers prior to their child attending either a workshop or Memory Day.
We provide a monthly Saturday morning group for children living with a family member who has a life limiting illness.
We ask young people and their parents/carers to give us feedback of their experience of Slide Away.
We raise awareness in schools of how bereavement can affect a child or young person.
We offer telephone support to schools.
We provide Tool Kit training to an identified member of staff in schools who will take on the role of School Beereavement Contact.
How do we work?
Slide Away works in partnership with schools in West Kent. Slide Away recognises that schools are caring environments and are well placed to recognise changes in a young person's behaviour following a bereavement. Young people can be referred to the charity by the School Bereavement Contact, who is an identified member of the school staff.
