Slide Away would like to say a huge thank you to the Kent and Sussex Crematorium and families using its services for donating £10,000 to Slide Away.
Slide Away's fundraising coordinator, Nicky Whatling, recently received a cheque on Slide Away's behalf from Megan Wilson the Bereavement Manager at the Kent and Sussex Crematorium.
The money was raised by recently bereaved families kindly giving their permission for their loved ones' metals, such as hip and knee replacements, to be recycled following cremation, rather than being returned to them. This is a national scheme run by the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management (ICCM), which arranges for the saved metals to be collected and reused.
The Slide Away team offers its sincere thanks to the Kent and Sussex Crematorium and those families who kindly gave permission for the recycling of their loved ones' metals. The donation will contribute to the Workshops and Memory Days Slide Away offers to bereaved children and those living with a family member with a terminal illness.
