Welcome to the Academic Year 2021-22. Slide Away, as ever, continues to offer professional bereavement services to support children and young people.
Taking account of the impact Covid-19 has had on children’s education and isolation following a death in the family, we have made some changes to our programme this academic year. Here is an overview of our services this year.
Our pre-bereavement group will meet fortnightly on a Wednesday evening after school. An individual session is available for children when time is limited for the family.
Memory days are for those children bereaved of a friend or family member not living in the family home, (except for parents living apart) and will take place on a Saturday.
Our 2-day workshops for those children bereaved of a parent or sibling will take place over two consecutive days - Friday and Saturday. We are aware that the pandemic created a set of circumstances that has made grieving more complicated for children and young people and we will therefore be offering extra support. In addition to our 2-day workshops, individual sessions will be available in schools for children and young people who need to work through anxieties they may have bottled up due to the isolation of lockdowns and school closures.
