During the summer holidays, Slide Away was able to invite a number of families to enjoy one of two free visits to Curly’s Farm thanks to the generosity of the Curly’s Farm team.
With the weather bright and breezy on both days, the children and young people being supported by Slide Away, their parents or carers, and some of the Slide Away team met some very cute young animals, learned a little more about farming and had a thoroughly enjoyable time out and about in the fresh air.
We recognise that outings such as these provide bereaved children and their carers with an opportunity to meet with others who’ve had a similar experience in a safe, fun and relaxed environment. We ensure that we have trained staff on hand to provide support as needed, and it is wonderful to enjoy some quality time with the families referred to us. Without the generosity of charities like Curly’s Farm, such important family days would not be possible.
Curly's Farm, based on the Isle of Sheppey, is a multi-award winning not-for-profit 'working farm' that supports the emotional, social, mental health and wellbeing of young people. With Curly being the figurehead of the charity and a full-time wheelchair user, his farm has been designed to support those with additional needs.
