Over the summer, a small group of children supported by Slide Away were invited by the Rotary Club of Tonbridge to join The Kingfisher Medway Trust for a cruise along the River Medway. Each child was accompanied by a family member and supported by Slide Away staff.
Julian and Penny Brandling-Harris of the Rotary Club of Tonbridge gave everyone onboard a very warm welcome, before crew and passengers set off for a wonderful cruise along the river from Wateringbury through the beautiful Kent countryside to enjoy the scenery and wildlife in the sunshine. The children even had a chance to steer the boat!
Slide Away would like to say a huge thank you to The Rotary Club of Tonbridge, who have supported Slide Away for many years, and The Kingfisher Medway Trust, a charity staffed entirely by volunteers. We recognise that outings such as these provide children and their carers with an opportunity to meet with others who have had similar experiences in a safe, fun and relaxed environment. We ensure our trained staff are on hand to provide support as needed, and to enjoy some time with the families referred to us, but without the generosity of the Rotary Club of Tonbridge and The Kingfisher Medway Trust, such days would not be possible.
