We are recruiting!

Slide Away is a registered charity that has been supporting bereaved children and young people in Kent since 2004. We help them adjust to a life that has changed so that they are able to manage their lives, both at home and school, and feel confident about their future. To do this we:

  • Provide a safe place for bereaved children to meet with others who have been bereaved, and where our professional team can help them to understand and express their feelings, hold onto their memories and manage on difficult days.
  • Help to open up communication in families by involving parents and carers, either in parent and carer groups or by inviting parents or carers to attend with their children.
  • We work in partnership with schools, recognising the important role they have in supporting bereaved pupils. We take our referrals from schools, and we provide high-quality training, support and advice to our school contacts.

* Senior Bereavement Practitioner *

As a much loved and long-serving member of the Slide Away team will be retiring this year, we are recruiting a Senior Bereavement Practitioner to join our highly regarded and professional clinical team.

This role is responsible for assessing children and young people referred to our service and for leading and coordinating our therapeutic group sessions. The role is home-based, but assessments take place in schools across the county and group sessions take place in Meopham, Kent. Access to own transport is essential.

The role works primarily term-time for 40 weeks of the year; 25.5 hours per week worked. Some flexibility is required to allow for work during holiday periods, and some weekend working is a feature of the role. The rate of pay on offer includes provision for statutory holiday pay.

Skills-based job shares will be considered.

Ideally, we are looking for the new person to start working with us on or before 1st January 2026.
